Buying Your Base VehicleWhen choosing which van to buy, you need to make sure that it is large enough to fit in what you need, but not so big that it is a nightmare to drive. If you can, try to stick to the popular vans, as specialist parts like high tops and blanking panels are readily available. If you are unsure, check the availability of the parts you need before you buy . When considering size, in my opinion, the smallest van you can fit a shower into is a SWB Transit or Boxer. In these vans the shower compartment will take up nearly 1/4 of the space in the back of the van. To be classed as a motor caravan you must have a bed 6' long, so you need to use lay flat front seats to make up your bed in this size of van. Although it requires some thought to fit everything in to this size of van, they can be used everyday as a replacement for a car. As the vans get bigger there is more room for the conversion but you will want to put more into it, so you need to be definite about what you want, as you will always fill the space and find you could always use an extra couple of feet.
